Additional GTA VI Updates & What We Know So Far

Here are some of the confirmed and highly credible details that have come out so far, beyond the release date:

Original/Previous Release Plan	GTA VI was earlier expected to launch in Fall 2025. That got shifted when Rockstar officially postponed the release to 2026.
Platforms	At launch, it’ll be available on PlayStation 5 and **Xbox Series X
Setting & World	The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, a place inspired by Florida, with Vice City returning as a major locale.
Main Characters	The protagonists are Lucia Caminos (the franchise’s first non-optional female lead) and Jason Duval. Their story has elements reminiscent of Bonnie & Clyde, blending romance, crime, and personal stakes.
Trailers & Media	- The first trailer dropped in December 2023, setting the original 2025 window.  - A second trailer followed on May 6, 2025, giving more character details, showing cutscenes/gameplay, and was accompanied by many new screenshots and website updates.
Reception / Response to Delay	Fans and media have generally accepted the postponement, though there are also rumors / speculation about another potential delay. However, as of now, Rockstar / Take-Two maintain the May 26, 2026 date is firmly in place.
Miscellaneous Notes	- The size and scale of the game is expected to be very large; Rockstar has advertised that GTA VI will be one of their biggest, most immersive open-world experiences yet.  - Some promotional material (artwork on certain platforms) may still say "Coming 2025", which has caused confusion. It’s likely that updates to all visuals are in progress.
